Author/Actress Denisha Hardeman will celebrate the release of her book 8 Lanes and the launch of her charity Un-Hushed Foundation. It will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm at Mariago Collective located at 1707 Waugh Drive, Houston, TX 77006. The event will be hosted by Jillian “JJ” Simmons from Houston’s 97.9 The Box and will feature special guests  Kat St. John and Itz Karma.

Domestic violence is one of the world’s most under-reported crimes. Whether it be physical, sexual, psychological or emotional abuse, more individuals, especially women, should be empowered speak up. Denisha Hardeman and UnHushed Foundation are on a mission to bring forth the truth that hides behind the smile of domestic violence victims. 

Overcoming the intimidating effects of the epidemic can be difficult without help or guidance. Denisha Hardeman hurdled her silent battle with domestic violence by focusing on the sport of track and field. It gave her the strength to fight back. Her 8 Lanes novel and forthcoming movie will depict Denisha’s struggles with abuse during high school and early college all while holding stellar records in track. Most importantly the story will focus on endurance and female empowerment.
